The Standard Model features the patented exclusive feature that made RubbAir famous: the flexible rubber I-beam extrusions adhesive-bonded inside the door. The Standard is the original "RubbAir" door developed by Oliver C. Eckel in 1954. This design gives the door what is referred to in rubber technology as historisis, or "memory": the ability of the material to flex to absorb the shock of impact and then return to its original position or shape.

The all-flexible rubber door-body is secured to the full-height shaft, stile and gravity-action cam and cam follower hardware with full-height aluminum mounts. This assembly of the hardware to the door-body prevents the diagonal cracking of the door-body and door facing at the hardware that is common with other traffic doors. Note also that doors over 2.4m high include reinforcing stiffeners inside the top of the door-body.

The rubber facings and safety-cushion nosings make the Standard Model perfect for personnel and other safety applications. The Standard Model is for any traffic door opening that is used frequently, especially by motorized traffic, where insulation, durability and safety are desired.
